Short answer: If GenLook's free plan, email capture, and language support work for you, there's little reason to switch. If you're leaving, pick by reason: TryPoint or Traion to avoid a fixed monthly allowance, Camweara for jewelry and eyewear, AI Frame or WAIR for sizing problems, and Antla or Icona for a like-for-like monthly plan.
Most "alternatives" lists rank apps as if every store wanted the same thing. Merchants rarely leave an app for no reason, though. They leave because the bill doesn't fit their traffic, the reports don't answer their questions, or the product category was never a good match. This guide starts from that reason. For a wider look at every option, our full comparison of Shopify virtual try-on apps covers the whole category.
What GenLook does well, and who should stay with it
GenLook's Shopify App Store listing describes an AI try-on that puts clothes on a shopper's own photo, with a few features that matter to growing stores:
- A free plan with 10 try-ons a month, then monthly plans from $19.99 for 100 try-ons
- Email capture during the try-on flow, plus a Klaviyo integration
- Analytics covering the try-on funnel and try-on-attributed sales
- Languages: the listing claims 14+ storefront languages
- Track record: a "Built for Shopify" badge and a 5.0 rating from 40 reviews, launched September 26, 2025
If you sell clothing, collect emails through try-on, and your monthly usage sits comfortably inside a plan, GenLook is a reasonable place to stay. The rest of this guide is for stores where one of those things isn't true.

Alternatives by the reason you're switching
You don't want a fixed monthly allowance
GenLook's paid plans renew monthly with a set number of try-ons. That works when usage is steady. It works less well for a small or seasonal store whose try-on volume swings from month to month. Picture a swimwear brand that's busy from March to July: on a monthly plan, it pays the same fee in a quiet December as in a busy June.
- TryPoint lists a Pay-as-you-go plan at $0.01 a month plus $0.29 per try-on, alongside a free plan with 20 try-ons a month and monthly plans from $19.99. Its listing also says shopper photos are auto-deleted and never used to train AI.
- Traion AI Virtual Try-On (our own app) sells try-on packages with no monthly fee: $19 for 100, $69 for 500, or $109 for 1,000, with 10 free try-ons on install. Its listing states that unused try-ons never expire.
Which works out cheaper depends on your volume. Our breakdown of pay-as-you-go versus subscription pricing runs the numbers.
You want different analytics
GenLook already reports the try-on funnel and attributed sales, so this is only a reason to switch if you need a different view.
- AI Frame lists a try-on-to-cart funnel on its Starter plan and a full analytics dashboard on Growth.
- Traion tracks the journey from try-on to add-to-cart to purchase per product, and groups products into insights about what to push, fix, or drop.
What matters is whether a report leads to a decision about a specific product. Our guide to try-on analytics that go beyond counting try-ons explains what to look for.
You sell jewelry, eyewear, or accessories
GenLook is built around putting clothes on a shopper's photo. Camweara is an AR app. Its listing covers jewelry, eyewear, watches, hats, shoes, and clothes, with plans priced by the number of products (from $39 a month for 70). For rigid accessories that sit on the face or hand, AR is usually the more natural fit. If you sell clothing alongside a few accessories, our breakdown of AR vs AI virtual try-on covers when one app can handle both.
Fit and size are your main return driver
A visual preview shows how something looks, not which size to order. If most returns say "too small" or "too big", look at tools that address size directly:
- AI Frame bundles try-on with size charts and a size recommender, from a free plan up to $199.99 a month.
- WAIR is a size and fit recommendation tool, not a visual try-on. It lists $125 a month, including the first 250 WAIR orders.
Our comparison of size charts and virtual try-on explains when each one helps.
You sell in many languages
GenLook's listing claims 14+ storefront languages, which is the strongest language claim among these apps. TryPoint's listing shows seven languages. For the others, the listings don't state storefront language support, so ask the developer before switching if you sell outside English-speaking markets.
You want a longer review history
Review counts on the Shopify App Store, as listed on October 6, 2026:
- Camweara: 5.0 from 64 reviews (launched 2021)
- Antla: 5.0 from 60 reviews (launched 2024)
- GenLook: 5.0 from 40 reviews
- WAIR: 4.7 from 33 reviews
- Icona: 4.8 from 27 reviews
- AI Frame: 5.0 from 20 reviews
- TryPoint: 5.0 from 13 reviews
- Traion: 5.0 from 2 reviews (launched June 2026)
If a long public track record matters most to you, Traion isn't the right pick yet, and we'd rather say so here than have you find out later.
How to switch without breaking your store
- Export what lives in the app. Captured emails, try-on history, and reports belong to the app, not to Shopify. Move emails to your email tool first.
- Switch off GenLook's app embed in the theme editor so shoppers never see two try-on buttons.
- Install and set up one replacement on the same products, then test on a real phone.
- Compare like with like. Run the new app for two to four weeks and compare add-to-cart and conversion with the same period under GenLook, keeping traffic sources as steady as you can.
- Uninstall the old app once you're sure, so you aren't billed for a plan you no longer use.
The bottom line
GenLook is a solid apparel try-on app, and plenty of stores should stay with it. Switch when you have a specific reason, and pick the alternative that answers that reason: pricing model, analytics, category, sizing, languages, or track record.
If the reason is that you want to stop paying for a monthly allowance and see which products try-on actually moves, Traion is free to install with 10 free try-ons, with the honest caveat that it's new and has only a couple of reviews. Install free
